What is a Target Stack Satellite?
A Target Stack satellite is a tournament that awards entries to another tournament. Players win entries by converting their starting chips into the Target Stack via gameplay. As soon as a player reaches the target stack, they win an entry and they (and their chips) are removed from the game.
Is there a fixed number of entries for each event?
An initial number of entries will be offered for each Target Stack event. Extra entries can be added as players register. However, a formula determines when an extra entry will be added based on the number of players in the event and the number of chips in play.
Are there any other prizes on offer?
Only tournament entries are offered as prizes. There are no alternative prizes.
What happens when a player reaches the target stack?
When players reach the target stack, they are removed from the tournament and awarded a prize. Their Target Stack has also been removed from play.
If a player has more chips than the Target Stack, the excess chips will be awarded to the player(s) involved in the hand where they reached the target stack. Chips will be distributed equally, with any fractional chips awarded to the first player to act in the hand.
If no players remain who were involved in the hand (all eliminated), the entire stack of the winning player is removed.
If I reach a target stack, do I take those chips forward to the target event?
No, Target Stack satellites are a mechanic to qualify for the target event. You will begin the target event with the stated starting stack.
When does the satellite end?
The satellite ends when all entries have been awarded. All remaining players will be eliminated.
Is there a hand-for-hand period if there are only a few seats left?
A Hand-for-hand period will begin when a few entries remain. This ensures fair play and prevents players from using quick or slow play to their advantage.
If all seats are won before the end of late registration, what happens?
This should not be possible as the formula used to calculate the number of entries awarded also considers chips removed when players win seats, meaning there will always be something to play for until the last entry is awarded.
If two (or more) players reach the target stack at the same hand, how are finishing positions decided?
This should not be possible as the formula used to calculate the number of entries awarded also considers chips removed when players win entries, meaning there will always be something to play for until the last entry is awarded. If only one entry is left to be won, only one player should be able to achieve the target stack.
Are re-entries permitted?
Target Stack events permit unlimited re-entry unless specified otherwise in the lobby.
Can players win more than one seat in the same satellite?
No, once you have won an entry in a Target Stack event, your participation is over and you cannot enter again to attempt to win more entries.
What happens if I win an entry from a Target Stack satellite and am already registered in the target event?
In this scenario, our multiple satellite wins policy applies.
You will receive T$ minus the tournament registration fee for your entry, and you will also be unable to unregister for the target event.
